Pupil Behaviour

Intent

At St. Joseph’s Catholic Primary School, our vision is “To protect with love all of God’s gifts.” This vision, alongside our school virtues, underpins a deeply relational approach to behaviour.

We believe that positive behaviour is built through strong, trusting relationships between adults and children. Every interaction is an opportunity to nurture connection, dignity and belonging.

We understand that all behaviour is a form of communication. Our role as adults is to respond with curiosity, empathy and care, seeking to understand the underlying needs and emotions that may be driving behaviour.

We are committed to creating an environment where every child feels:

  • safe
  • valued
  • listened to
  • respected as an individual created in God’s image

All behaviour support is rooted in restoration, growth and relationship repair. We aim not simply to manage behaviour, but to help each child develop self-awareness, emotional regulation and a strong sense of responsibility towards others.

We recognise that parents and carers are essential partners in this work, and we strive to build open, respectful and collaborative relationships with families.
